It’s Good To Be Writing Again
For quite some time, these monthly letters have been silent.
Life has a way of changing our plans, and over the past few years I found myself stepping away from many of the things I loved, including sharing newsletters with all of you.
If you've been with Grenadine Wild Sea Salt for a while, I want to begin by simply saying thank you. Thank you for remaining part of our community, even during the quiet moments.
One of the greatest joys since my last newsletter has been opening Salt Café & Bar within the historic courtyard of our ancient sugar mill in Bequia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines. It has become a place where visitors from around the world gather to experience the flavors of the Caribbean through our island-inspired cuisine, handcrafted cocktails featuring local ingredients, and the use of Grenadine Wild Sea Salt in every dish and many of our cocktails.
My dream was to create a place where guests could not only taste our artisan finishing sea salt, but experience it in the very setting where its story began. Today, The Mill brings together Grenadine Wild Sea Salt, Salt Café & Bar, and the rich heritage of a beautifully restored historic sugar mill, creating an experience found nowhere else in Bequia. Every guest who visits becomes part of that story.
As I began thinking about writing, I realized I didn't want to simply restart a newsletter with our blog. Instead, I'd like these to become personal letters from me to you, sharing stories from our tiny island of Bequia, the inspiration behind Grenadine Wild Sea Salt, recipes from Salt Café & Bar, and the people, places, and moments that continue to inspire me.
Each morning, the Caribbean sun slowly transforms seawater into delicate crystals through our patented solar evaporation process. Watching this quiet process unfold each day is a reminder that some of life's finest things are created by patience, nature, and time.
Over the years, I've come to realize that the best part of Grenadine Wild Sea Salt has never been the salt itself. It's the connections it creates. Family gathered around a table. Friends sharing a meal. A favorite recipe passed from one generation to the next. A simple pinch of finishing salt that turns an ordinary dish into something memorable.
That's what "Sprinkle the Love" has always meant to me.
So, once each month, I'll be writing to you from The Mill. Together we'll explore island life in Bequia, recipes from Salt Café & Bar, entertaining ideas, the stories behind our handcrafted sea salts, and the beauty of gathering around the table.
Next month, I'd love to take you behind the scenes at Salt Café & Bar. I'll share the inspiration behind the restaurant, one of our signature dishes, a handcrafted cocktail, and what makes dining in the courtyard of our ancient sugar mill such a memorable experience.
Until then, thank you for being here. It truly means more than you know.
Sprinkle the Love,
Jerry Simpson
